Friends Without Faces
We sit and we type and we stare at our screens.
We all have to wonder, what this possibly means.
We chat with each other, we share all our woes,
Small groups we do form and gang up on our foes.
We wait for somebody to type out our name,
We want recognition and offer the same.
We give kisses and hugs and sometimes we flirt,
In rooms we chat deeply and reveal why we hurt.
We form friendships but why is a thing we don't know,
Though most often founder some will flourish and grow.
Why is it that on screen, we can all be so bold,
Telling our secrets that have never been told?
Why is it we share those deep thoughts in our mind
With those we can't see, as though we were blind?
The answer is simple, it's as clear as a bell.
We all have our problems and need someone to tell.
We can't tell "real" people, but tell someone we must
So we turn to the 'puter, and to those we can trust.
Even though it is crazy, the truth still remains,
They are friends without faces and with odd little names.

Hello
A friend sent me your sight to visit since they had been there and had seen a poem I had written.
NO, I dont care if its published, and NO, I do not have a copywrite on it. My curiosity lies in how you came upon it.
I wrote that poem in February of 1995. The first copies of it were passed out at a Chat party in Cleveland for a group who had gathered for the first time from the Ohio Room on Prodigy.
The poem has appeared on several Web Pages over the past couple of years with about half of them giving credit to me. NO, I dont need the fame and I see that you do not give credit to anyone. My problem would be that of giving credit to someone who did not write it. I do however note that you do not have Author Unkown listed.
This version is as close to the original as any I have seen and only has a couple of variations and stays almost the same.
Over the years I have passed out over 300 laminated copies of this poem and maybe another 200 loose sheets on it. All of the copies I have distributed were shown as my being the Author except not by name, but rather by screen name on Prodigy which is "TT Tigger"
I would be the first to admit that I am amazed that this thing I did so long ago keeps popping up from time to time. The very fact that it does made it all worth while. It sort of makes me feel that I voiced what so many must feel.
I would appreciate any response you care to make and thank you for your time. Tom Teague aka TT Tigger ([email protected]) TT Tigg ([email protected])
